About Us

The Prince William County Police Department provides outstanding law enforcement services to the community of more than 450,000 residents. Our nationally accredited Department – with an authorized strength of 673 sworn officers – is composed of four divisions and 14 bureaus. We provide police services to a County that boasts urban, suburban and rural areas, 25 miles south of Washington, D.C.

We offer a variety of specialized units and have our own Criminal Justice Academy where new officers are trained. The Academy also offers a variety of training courses for experienced officers. As a result of cooperative agreements, officers can also attend courses at other Academies in the local area.
